Staff Profile: Kat Bastian, Adventure Program

How long have you been involved with St. David’s Center & how did you first get involved?

I’ve been involved with St. David’s Center since my freshman year of college, so for over 3 years. I first became involved when I was looking for a job to break into the healthcare field and wanted to start gaining experience.

What does “a day in the life” of an Adventure Program Staff entail?

One of my favorite parts of being an adventure staff is that no day is quite like the next. Every day brings a new adventure with new experiences of learning and personal growth for both the participants I work with and myself as a staff.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I most enjoy about my job is the feeling that I am making a difference. There’s nothing that can compare to being able to see how the clients I work with have grown and been able to say I was a part of their success.

What opportunities has St. David’s Center given you in your career?

St. David’s Center has helped me gain direct client care and leadership experience and has helped me make connections within the industry that will help me in the future as I take the next steps in my chosen career path.

If someone was interested in joining St. David’s Center, what would you say to them?

St. David’s center is not only an opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life, it is an opportunity to change your own life. I believe everyone should work with an organization such as St. David’s Center at some point because it will change the way you see the world around you and you’ll grow in ways you never imagined.
