Minnetonka Police Activity – 4/10/24
10 April 2024
Dear Families,
We are writing to inform you of an ongoing safety situation in Minnetonka. Please note there is no immediate threat to anyone in the building.
Incident Overview
Earlier this afternoon, we were informed of police activity involving gunfire in a neighborhood approximately 2.5 miles from St. David’s Center.
Our Response
Although the incident is not in the immediate vicinity, we implemented our shelter-in-place protocol out of an abundance of caution. However, based on reports, we understand that the suspect is currently inside the residence where shots were fired. The Minnetonka Police Department agreed with our decision to do shelter-in-place as a prudent choice.
Though there is no immediate threat to anyone in the building, we have an increased staff presence, including our new security staff, both outside the facility and in the lobby this afternoon. We will be present to support all transitions into and out of the building, to ensure “extra eyes” on the property. This presence will remain until the end of today unless the situation is resolved sooner.
We will continue to monitor and remain in consultation with the Minnetonka Police Department, as you can expect from the St. David’s Center team.
Thank you,
Julie Sjordal, CEO and Jayson Palm, Director of Facilities and Risk Management
